Beats by Dre- Advert analysis

Caption: 'Got no strings'

Shot: The advert begins as a close up shot on Pinocchio, he is on a theatre stage singing and dancing with his strings visible, as he stands in the middle of the stage the logo  for Beats by Dre comes up and seconds after the logo disappears and the spotlight is placed where the logo is. The product is introduce in the middle of the stage to make it stand out to the audience and communicate to us that Beats by Dre is a trend that we all need to become apart off and follow, hence the reason why it is placed in the spotlight.

Denotation:

Sound/music- the song played is 'Got no strings' from the movie Pinocchio. It sounds like a happy song. The words 'Got no strings' also connotes to the wireless headphones, it is much more sufficient to carry around with you, the title is also a metaphor for freedom in which you are free from the wires that most headphones have and you are then free to be happy.

Editing:

The slogan and logo is placed in the beginning of the advertisement. Furthermore as the advert progresses quick scenes of well known celebrities are shown dancing and looking rather happy and glad.As the advertisement comes to an end the slogan 'got no strings' is brought to the forefront written in bold white letters to emphasise that the beats products behind it are a wireless products.

Logo: The logo is of the 'B' which stands for 'Beats'.

Persuasive techniques- They use celebrities in the advertisement because they are seen as role models to most people and people would want to copy what these celebrities are doing, in this case they would want to buy a beats earphone because their favourite celebrity has a pair. By starring celebrities this would persuade people to buy the product and follow the trend.

Another persuasive technique is that they show these celebrities in fancy/beautiful places enjoying life, this idealises the product and communicates to the audience that if you buy these Beats headphones you too could enjoy life and be happy like these celebrities.

  1. You have attempted to use some media language, although I'd like to see more detailed consideration of what each technique connotes. You write well. Vanessa
